Who is fooling who?

he news is now out, September 8, 2016 all jubilee coalition affiliate parties, amongst which, TNA, URP, JAP, APK, UDF, UPK, PNU, TIP TIP, GNU, New Ford Kenya, Ford People and Republican Council, will hold separate convections during which the parties shall formalize their resolutions and to dissolve and join the jubilee party. But this move to merge political parties into one front party has steered mixed reactions amongst political bigwigs and the Kenyan citizens.
Though this merge seems so simple and up taken, it servers as an illustration of the dilemma Kenyans find themselves into, not knowing who is up to what? I choose to use a case study of the merger between the Progressive - Conservative Party and the Reform/Canadian Alliance parties of Canada, which were merged on grounds of votes-seats disproportionally, access to new resources both electoral and financial and lastly rebranding, and I pose the question if this is the case with the Jubilee merger.
According to the President and his deputy, who are precisely the leaders of the Jubilee party, have clearly stated that the move is meant to put an end to regional and ethic political outfits, which has characterized Kenyan’s political landscape since the re-introduction of multiparty politics, and as such the politics of the country going forward will be based on issues, agenda, manifesto and programs that ensures every single Kenyan feels included in the government a definition of democracy.
The opposition on the other hand through its leader, Mr. Odinga seem to be reading from another script, claiming that the move undermines the spirit of multiparty democracy, and that takes Kenya back to the days of single party system, where Jubilee seeks to kill other parties and have power to themselves for good. With this, should we as Kenyans be wary of the merger or embrace it warmly as a tool for our unity, or should we be on guard for democracy, meanwhile do you see any need to re-think the idea of Jubilee being branded as a Kanu reincarnate?...food for thought
