Kenya: Mob Lynches Man Who Slaughtered His Children in Nyamira

A shocked villager reacts after viewing the bodies of two children killed by their father in Bobondo.
A man in Nyamira County went berserk on Thursday evening, slaughtering his two children before an angry mob lynched him in return.
The incident, which occurred in Bobondo, West Mugirango constituency, left many baffled.
Bugesi Okero, 25, is said to have separated from his wife Rebecca six months ago and had been living alone with the children, a daughter, 5, and son, 3.
"I got a call from a neighbour that all was not well at home. On reaching our village, I found the children's father trying to run away. He was, however, overpowered by angry villagers, who killed him and set his body ablaze," Richard Tai, the lynched man's brother, told Nation.co.ke.
He said his brother had been behaving strangely in recent days, adding that he had demolished their late parents' houses in unclear circumstances.
"We have been trying to reconcile him with his runaway wife in vain. We don't know why he chased her away," added Mr Tai.
Nyamira South OCPD Riko Ngare, who arrived at the scene shortly after the incident, expressed his shock but urged members of the public not to take the law into their own hands.
Police took the bodies to the Nyamira Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.

Kenya: Former President Kibaki Flown to South Africa for Treatment

Former president Mwai Kibaki.
Nairobi — Kenya's former President Mwai Kibaki has been flown to South Africa for treatment.
Kibaki left for South Africa Sunday morning.
"He was accompanied by his doctor. We expect him to return soon, and Kenyans will be informed of his progress as appropriate," a statement issued by State House said.
"We ask Kenyans to pray for him, and to respect the privacy of the family at this difficult time," the statement added.
It's understood that the former President was first taken to the Karen Hospital for treatment on Saturday before a decision was taken to fly him to South Africa.
The former President formally started work as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) Special Envoy for Water in Africa in June.
The former President expressed hope that the initiative will ensure proper water governance processes in Africa.
He noted that progress in the sector will unlock Africa's potential for faster job-creation, poverty eradication, and socio-economic growth and development.
His role among other goals includes drawing attention of Heads of State of governments and civil societies to the importance of sustainable management of the available water resources.

Indian Minister Mocked Over 'Human Chair' Flood Photo

Shivraj Singh Chouhan visits flood affected areas

"Embarrassing" politician is pictured being lifted above shallow water following flooding which has claimed more than 40 lives.

A senior Indian politician has been ridiculed over images which show him being carried through ankle-deep water while inspecting deadly flooding.
At least 40 people have died and hundreds of thousands have been evacuated as floods triggered by monsoon rains hit central and eastern India.
During a visit to a village hit by flooding, Shivraj Singh Chouhan was pictured wearing white trousers and being held aloft by two policemen in shallow water.
The photo of Mr Chouhan, chief minister of the Madhya Pradesh state, was splashed on newspaper front pages in India and sparked a backlash on Twitter.
One post read: "Shame on Shivraj Singh Chouhan. So embarrassing, wet your feet my man."
Another user joked that the picture showed Mr Chouhan "celebrating with coaches and staff after defeating (Michael) Phelps to clinch gold in 400m swimming."
Others accused the minister of abusing his position, while some drew comparisons to the treatment of British officials during colonial times.
The Hindustan Times reports that security officers lifted Mr Chouhan after he "hit a hard object in the mud".
Other reports suggest that the minister was hoisted over concerns about snakes in the water.
On Twitter Mr Chouhan posted pictures of himself surveying flood damage in barefoot, next to a man holding his shoes.
He omitted the image of him being carried through floodwater.
In Madhya Pradesh at least 17 people have died from drowning, electrocution and injuries from house collapses.
Mr Chouhan said: "The administration is alert and I have ordered them to provide food and clean water to the displaced.
"Weather warning administration will take adequate steps when needed."
Disaster management officials said that days of heavy rain have caused the Ganges River to rise above the danger mark in 20 districts.
Floods occur in many parts of India during the monsoon season, which runs from June through September.

Elected leaders and those aspiring for political seats should not be given party positions in the new Jubilee Party, Kieni MP Kanini Kega has said.
According to Mr Kega, the party leadership should be left to those who are not eyeing political seats and are "independent thinkers".
The MP dismissed claims that he was positioning himself to take up a party position.
“I would not wish to be a party leader because the party will demand my attention and deny me enough time to carry out my campaigns,” he said.
The MP accused leaders and aspirants for elective positions of fighting the [Jubilee] merger that seeks to unite Kenyans.
According to the MP, elected leaders would influence their nominations and this would result in battles in the Jubilee Party before its official launch in September.
“Let us not waste time thinking that someone will watch as they lose a nomination yet they are holding positions in the party.
"Of course they will do everything in their power to win,” he said.
He further supported the involvement of the electoral commission in party nominations.
This decision, he said, was a clear indication that the party has confidence in the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
Leaders of The National Alliance, United Republican Party, Alliance Party of Kenya and the New Ford-Kenya are jostling for the top party positions.
The party’s constitution provides for 21 top posts, including that of the leader, reserved for President Kenyatta, and deputy party leader, set aside for Mr Ruto.
Three deputy chairpersons will be in charge of operations, programmes and strategy, while the secretary-general will also have three deputies for operations, programmes and strategy, among other functions.
The President and his deputy are expected to appoint interim officials.

INFLUENCE OF SOCIAL MEDIA ON THE 2017 ELECTION IN KENYA

There is no doubt that for the first time in Kenya social media is going to be used so extensively during elections. Given its popularity, social media could be used as an influential channel for opinion leading, including agenda-setting and public opinion formation. The technology revolution which we call it as Internet has changed the world by connecting people across the globe.

Today's youth in Kenya are increasingly using a numbers of social sites such as Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Blog and LinkedIn as platforms for communicating with friends, family and work colleagues. Social Media’s quick development shows its influence on society and is a crucial part of the advancement of information and communication technologies.

The use of social media is significantly complex. Even though the use of social media has several challenges such as security, privacy, accuracy at the same time it provides the opportunities for sharing, collaboration, and engagement of users which is provided by the medium of social media. It is very crucial to understanding how and why these tools can be used in politics.

Social Media has rapidly grown in importance as a platform for political activities in its different forms. Social media platforms, such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube provide new ways to encourage citizen get involved in political life, where elections and electoral campaigns have a central role.  According to observers, social media would play a vital role in deciding which party wins the most seats in the upcoming 2017 elections in Kenya the reason for this being the youth.

This population of mostly the youth is either studying in college or working in various companies and other sectors or is either an  entrepreneur. Their busy schedule has created a virtual distance between television and radio especially in case of acquiring or sharing information .The youth is tech savvy and love being connected with updated trends and topics which is possible by using laptops, desktops or the most favorite network connected mobiles.

Even though politicians for their campaign still use posters, cut-outs, fliers, graffiti and personal rally’s to reach and win over voters but with the social media changing the picture of urban Kenya, political parties are becoming tech savvy and realizing that social media is the only way to reach out to the this young youth. Almost all other aspirants for Governor, Senator, Member of Parliament, Member of County Assembly seats have also joined the social media craze while the internet boom has drastically changed the media scene as they use the social media to air out the political campaigns on who said what and where they say it. They engage the voters by integrating their news practices and their journalists follow events to deliver breaking news.

As the political heat rises ahead of the 2017 general, elections, the social media impact is going to be indisputable. Gone is the generation that rallied behind a politician just because they belonged to a particular tribe. Many of the politicians leaders whom we know today rose to power not because of their remarkable leadership qualities but through the enormous number of voters already have their fates decided by their voters on social media.
Many voters haven’t been home since the last general elections but know various finished and unfinished developments projects put up by the MCAS, how the scandals of the governor and senator has derailed developments, all courtesy of the social media.
It’s not a doubt that the social media holds a key of the outcome of the 2017 general elections and that the general election will be won or lost on the social media platform.

STATUS QUO SYNDROME

I had this friend who no matter what advice you give him,he was always satisfied with what he had. he never fought for more,he was contented. his peers were way past him.Ten years later he still woke up the same time everyday, did the same thing everyday, went home the same time everyday and slept the same time. boring is what I might say,at thirty,he looked like a fifty year old man .had a protruding tummy, five kids and another on the way.
Whatever he did in his life was so predictable that it became a norm. Macharia was a small retail shop owner and if he had a knack for business or a goal to move forward, he now would be a proud owner of a  chain of supermarkets.
What makes people fear moving forward and reach out to their goals?
Why do people stick in the status quo syndrome?
How do you know you are not moving forward?
The ability to ask yourself these questions will determine if you are a goal chaser or person suffering from (SQS)status quo syndrome.
What happens when you follow you goals,? you grow better each and everyday.
There are many enemies of a victorious lifestyle,
1.Fear.....Challenges will come
             - Competition will come
              -Death will come
The question is, are you brave enough to face all those? Are you ready to move forward or stay where you are just because of fear?
2. Pride........it comes before a fall.
Macharia was proud of whatever small he had achieved, as long as his children are well fed, sleep well, get the basic commodities in life. He never tried for more just because of fear, and pride.

Do an introspection of your lifestyle and attitude, it comes in many ways and its not something that can be calculated.
Struggle for a better life, a better future not only for you but also your children. do not be contented with what you have...struggle for more.

success

To succeed, you have to bypass many obstacles. Everybody passes through this, its a rite of passage. all you have to know is that there is light at the end of the dark tunnel you are in, keep moving, have hope because at the end of it all everything will be alright.
-Don't give up
-Don't let it put you down.
-Gather all your strengths.
-Forget your fears.
Keep on going and going. learn the lessons as you go...find solutions that you can use later.
when you get there, don't slack of be comfortable that you have reached, NO, keep moving and remember, not all times are the best times... there will come a time that things will change but since you have once gone through it, and you have the experience, the solutions, the hope and more importantly, the lessons learned you will rise up again; But remember, on your way, do not step on the people you meet , you will meet them again and again and again.
This is a time you will realize that you are alone in the world...others may be against you, friends turn foe, family abandon you...move on..stop the desperate attempt to follow up on them.
Believe in yourself, bring out the assertive part of you.Take care of yourself..feed your self esteem and you will succeed in all you do.

Clinton camp tries to deflect foreign money criticism, points finger at Trump campaign

Now Playing Pollshow Trump only slightly ahead of Clinton in Texas
The Hillary Clinton campaign suggested Sunday that the resignation of Donald Trump’s campaign chairman doesn’t end Trump's possible connections to Russian money and Russian President Vladimir Putin, whom it implies is using Trump as a “puppet” in the White House race.
“We need Donald Trump to explain to us the extent to which the hand of the Kremlin is at the core of his campaign," Clinton campaign manager Robbie Mook said on “ABC’s “This Week.”
Mook’s appearances on ABC and CBS’ “Face the Nation,” and the attacks on Trump come amid renewed questions about the potential influence of foreign money on the Clinton Foundation.
Newly released documents show the State Department considered buying a property for a U.S. embassy in Lagos from a foreign company with ties to a wealthy foundation donor shortly after Clinton resigned as secretary of state in 2013.
Last week, Trump campaign Chairman Paul Manafort resigned amid more reports about his financial ties to Russian-backed Ukraine politicians, included ousted President Viktor Yanukovych, whom Putin supported.
However, Mook pointed to Trump’s apparent political admiration for Putin as well as the Trump campaign’s apparently successful attempt to soften Washington Republicans’ desire to arm Ukraine’s pro-Western government against Russian intrusion.

Who is fooling who?
                                                               By Shadrack Ogega   ogegasharack@gmail.com
T
he news is now out, September 8, 2016 all jubilee coalition affiliate parties, amongst which, TNA, URP, JAP, APK, UDF, UPK, PNU, TIP TIP, GNU, New Ford Kenya, Ford People and Republican Council, will hold separate convections during which the parties shall formalize their resolutions and to dissolve and join the jubilee party. But this move to merge political parties into one front party has steered mixed reactions amongst political bigwigs and the Kenyan citizens.
Though this merge seems so simple and up taken, it servers as an illustration of the dilemma Kenyans find themselves into, not knowing who is up to what? I choose to use a case study of the merger between the Progressive - Conservative Party and the Reform/Canadian Alliance parties of Canada, which were merged on grounds of votes-seats disproportionally, access to new resources both electoral and financial and lastly rebranding, and I pose the question if this is the case with the Jubilee merger.
According to the President and his deputy, who are precisely the leaders of the Jubilee party, have clearly stated that the move is meant to put an end to regional and ethic political outfits, which has characterized Kenyan’s  political landscape since the re-introduction of multiparty politics, and as such the politics of the country going forward will be based on issues, agenda, manifesto and programs that  ensures every single Kenyan feels included in the government a definition of  democracy.
The opposition on the other hand through its leader, Mr. Odinga seem to be reading from another script, claiming that the move undermines the spirit of multiparty democracy, and that takes Kenya back to the days of single party system, where Jubilee seeks to kill other parties and have power to themselves for good. With this, should we as Kenyans be wary of the merger or embrace it warmly as a tool for our unity, or should we be on guard for democracy, meanwhile do you see any need to re-think the idea of  Jubilee being branded as a Kanu reincarnate?...food for thought

Kenyan students have just made it in the kenyan book of records this year.A day after the other doms changes to ashes .but why then? Others say the ministry is behind this but ..I personal I say NO .why are we accusing the cabinet secretary for flames in schools ? Or do you mean the ministry is to monitor all the activities of pupils in the country, from malindi, kwale to kisii? That can't work. Remember any school is under management to do that work lets stop blaming  the ministry . I think this is the so called politics .
Politics have nothing to do in such issues because at last our on parents are to pay back any kind of damages caused. We should not allow politics to overpower us yet we know very well that we have been causing a lot of stresses to our parents not politicians.
It is clear that anything in kenya must be politicized . students burning schools  the minister must go ,attacks ,minister must go,elections ,IEBC must go.....kenya has now become a country of MUST GO. Guys our parents are tired  of paying damages so please make point of siriousness in your studies.
